New Ducati Monster 795 Launched at Expo

This Ducati which has been specifically developed for the Asian markets now becomes the most affordable Ducati in the Indian market.

It has an 803cc L-twin, air cooled engine which produces 87PS of power and 78Nm of torque at 6250rpm. It has a six speed gear box. To bring the cost down, the 795 has a double-sided swing arm instead of the single on the 796. It will also have 3-spoke alloy wheels and not the five-spoke ones on the 796.

Considering that the 795 will be made at Ducati’s Thailand facility it was initially thought that the price of the bike would be around Rs 5-6 lakh but today’s announcement has meant that many will now have to rework their budgets. With the Triumph Street Triple now available at Rs 5.75 lakh, the Kawasaki Ninja 650R at Rs 4.57 lakh and the Hyosung GT650N at Rs 4.6 lakh (all prices >> Read More

Triumph Speed Triple – Auto Expo 2012

The Triumph Speed Triple launched at the Auto Expo 2012 is a wolf in a well, wolf’s clothing. It along with its little brother the Street Triple both sport great street fighter’ looks combined with serious performance. The elder of the two Triples was launched in 1994 and was called the Speed Triple T300.

Triumph Speed Triple - Auto Expo 2012

It was a tribute to 1938 speed twin’ that was dubbed as a performance bike. The original bikes had single steel down tubes and used the engine as a stressed member with fully adjustable suspension front and rear and to showcase its performance’ tag Triumph also started a one-make racing series with the bike in 1994.

In 1997 the Speed Triple received a refresh with a larger engine and notably twin bug eye’ headlamps. The frame changed to external twin-tube’ aluminium frame and single sided swing arm and the clip-on handlebars from the 1994 bike were also replaced with regular handlebars. This lent an aggressive look to the bike and has been a design trait of the Speed Triple ever since. In 2005 the engine grew to 1050cc and since then the Speed Triple >> Read More

KTM Duke 200 – Launching on 3rd January 2012

News of the KTM-Bajaj alliance churning out an India-only 200cc model has been doing the rounds of the internet ever since the first KTM 125 was shown last year at the EICMA fair

KTM Duke 200 - Launching on 3rd January 2012

The KTM Duke 200 that is widely speculated will be launched on 3rd of  January 2012 across Bajaj Probiking showrooms in India. The KTM Duke 200 will be priced at INR 1.25-1.31 Lakhs which is in my humble opinion is a steal!

India’s first Duke comes powered by a 200cc, single-cylinder, four-stroke, four valves, liquid-cooled and fuel injected engine. Bore and Stroke measurements are an ultra short stroke 72mm x 49mm, so expect the 200 to display a big affinity for high revs. Its bantamweight kerb weight of 137kg will make the 200 Duke considerably lighter than every Indian rival in its class, and 25bhp of peak power makes for a solid power-to-weight ratio of 182.4bhp per tonne. Expect a close ratio, six-speed, one-down, five-up shifting transmission.

The 200 Duke will carry the bulk of its weight low, including an under-slung exhaust system that sits just below the swing arm pivot >> Read More
