US cult bike maker Harley Davidson today launched two locally-assembled models at a price starting from Rs 9.95 lakh, which is much lower than that of imported motorcycles.

FXDB Street Bob and FXDC Super Glide Custom, previously offered as Completely Built-up (CBU) imports, will now be available at all the seven dealership of Harley-Davidson. The two bikes belong to the company’s Dyna family of motorcycle.

Expanding its Complete-Knockdown-Kit models, Harley Davidson India has announced the prices for it FXDB Street Bob, available at Rs. 9.95 lakhs, ex-showroom, and the FXDC Super Glide Custom at Rs. 11.5 lakhs, ex-showroom, here at the 2012 Auto Expo, making the Street Bob the most reasonable 1600 cc cruiser in the country.

Harley Davidson displays five customized motorcycles at Delhi Auto Expo

Harley Davidson India pavilion at 2012 Delhi Auto Expo was center of attraction for motorcycle fans from across India. Harley Davidson showcased five new custom motorcycles and cemented their commitment that no two Harley Davidson motorcycles are alike.

Harley-Davidson Street Bob Super Glide Launched at Auto Expo

Harley-Davidson today announced the enhancement of their complete knock down (CKD) product line up. First up is the Harley-Davidson FXDB Street Bob a classic bobber, which will now be available at Rs. 9.95 lakh, ex-showroom against the earlier price of Rs 13.94 lakh.

The second addition is the Harley-Davidson FXDC Super Glide Custom a sibling of the Street Bob with custom styling and this will retail at Rs 11.5 lakh, ex-showroom against Rs 15.45 lakh last year. This addition brings Harley-Davidson’s CKD portfolio count in India up to five motorcycles.

First Indian Woman To Own A Harley Davidson

And finally we have the first woman in India to own a Harley.

Sheeja Matthews, mother of a seven year old is a Banglore based HR professional who has been riding to work for the past ten years on a Rajdoot 350. She has upgraded to the Harley Davidson Iron 883 and will be riding to work at least once a week.

The 34 year old also plans on taking weekend trips on the Harley.  Not only does she ride a Harley, but also drives a Tata Safari and a Chevrolet Cruze. She has been a drag racer as well which qualifies her as a total petrolhead.

When asked what prompted her to go for a Harley Davidson, she said: “Well, I have been riding my husband’s bike for the past 10 years and I thought it was high time I upgraded.”

“I do drive a (Tata) Safari and (Chevrolet) Cruze but I love bikes,” she said, adding, her businessman husband chipped in 20 per cent of the amount for her Harley Davidson.
