KTM 200 Duke Launched - Price Rs 1.17 lakh (Ex-Showroom Delhi)

Standing tall at 165 mm, the KTM 200 Duke gets its thrust from a 199.50 cc DOHC 4V engine that produces 25PS of power @ 10,000 rpm and churns out 19Nm of torque @ 8,000 rpm.  Although KTM’s decision to limit the red line on the 200 Duke at 135 km/h may disappoint some, the linear manner in which this power will be delivered all through the rev band will define its ultimate purpose for riders both in the city and on long distance runs.

The KTM engine is all-new, featuring light aluminium construction, double overhead camshafts with finger followers, four valves, fuel injection and liquid cooling. The engine is heavily oversquare, allowing a big, short light piston to work a short stroke to provide quick-revving power. A light forged crankshaft, similarly promotes the quick revving power delivery, sort of how >> Read More

Auto Expo – 2014 Expo May Be Held Outside Delhi

The New Delhi Auto Expo may be shifted to a new venue in future and will probably not be held in January any more, considering the issues that the ongoing event is suffering from.

Auto Expo: 2014 Expo may be held outside Delhi

All organising parties, namely Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Automotive Components Manufacturers’ Association (ACMA) acknowledged the need to streamline the way things are being run currently.

The organising bodies hope to provide the exhibitors and visitors a better experience at the 12th edition of the event.

Many exhibitors have made their displeasure known to the organisers and said that they may not come to the event next time. This made the organisers take note of the problems and come up with apt solutions for the 2014 event.

International players like Volkswagen, Fiat and Renault complained that similar events are held at the time of holidays in Europe and USA. The capacity of Pragati Maidan to host 1,00,000 visitors on a daily basis was also questioned by the likes of Anand Mahindra, Deputy >> Read More

KTM 200 DUKE: OVERVIEW

KTM Duke 200 is launching on 24th (Tuesday) January  2012 in Delhi.

The eagerly anticipated KTM 200 Duke will be backed by the sales and service might of Bajaj Probiking. It boasts remarkably potent specifications, which is why we couldn’t wait to get behind the handlebars and tell you how it all comes together as a package.

KTM 200 DUKE OVERVIEW

Butch, lean and aggressive all at the same time, the striking 200 Duke proudly shows off its KTM genes. Black and trademark orange are the predominant colours, while sharp angles and steep creases define this modern naked bike. Every part is visibly pared down to the minimum, which allows the 200 to live up to KTM’s ‘Ready to Race’ tag and tip the scales at just 136kg. The front mudguard is sporty and bolted on above elegant, slim-spoke alloy wheels. A bikini fairing guards the engine sump, while the engine itself is exposed within a trellis steel frame. A stubby stainless steel exhaust box sits neatly tucked away underneath.

There’s a chin-set auxiliary light below the headlight, while a compact digital instrument cluster sits over it. Fussy at best, >> Read More

New KTM Duke 200 Specifications

According to KTM’s official webpage, the Duke 200 will come with a liquid cooled, 4 stroke, fuel injected 200cc engine mated to a 6-speed transmission. 25PS of power is expected.

New KTM Duke 200 Specifications

The ultra short stroke engine will ensure that the Duke 200 is an eager beaver as far as revs are concerned. The kerb weight is 137kg, which makes it lighter than even some 125cc machines in the Indian market. Expect nimble handling and rider friendly dynamics.

For optimal handling and a fun to ride characteristic, KTM-Bajaj has lowered the center of gravity by  using an underslung exhaust system. At the rear is a directly mounted monoshock while upside down forks do duty at the front. A 4 piston 300mm disc at the front and 230mm disc at the rear provide stopping power.

The disc brakes are manufactured by a sub division of Brembo. The OEM tyre manufacturer for Duke in India will most likely be MRF, considering how they are a favourite with Bajaj.

The fact that the Duke 200 is manufactured in India and that Bajaj has till date been well known as a low cost bike manufacturer, will ensure that the Duke 200 >> Read More
