Honda CBR150R Unveiled – At Auto Expo 2012

The 2012 Auto Expo had all the biking enthusiasts excited when Honda unveiled the CBR150R. That it wasn’t expected, added to the lure.

The CBR150R is manufactured in Thailand and was first introduced in 2002. It’s a part of many one-make racing championships that Honda organises across Asia, including India. The Honda CBR150R looks exactly like its bigger engined twin, the CBR250R, save for its scaled down look and the black alloys.

The CBR150R has a 149cc engine with fuel injection, an O2 sensor with air induction and a 6-speed transmission. It produces 18PS of power and 12.6Nm of torque. In terms of suspension, the 150R has telescopic forks at the front and a monoshock at the rear. Disc brakes at both the ends handle retardation duties. The bike has a twin tubular frame which increases stability.

New Ducati Monster 795 Launched at Expo

The wait is finally over. The Ducati Monster 795 can be yours for Rs 6.99 lakh, ex-showroom. The Monster 795 was today officially launched at the 2012 Auto Expo by Mirko Bordiga, Ducati Asia Pacific CEO and Ashish Chordia Ducati India CEO.

This Ducati which has been specifically developed for the Asian markets now becomes the most affordable Ducati in the Indian market.

It has an 803cc L-twin, air cooled engine which produces 87PS of power and 78Nm of torque at 6250rpm. It has a six speed gear box. To bring the cost down, the 795 has a double-sided swing arm instead of the single on the 796. It will also have 3-spoke alloy wheels and not the five-spoke ones on the 796.

Considering that the 795 will be made at Ducati’s Thailand facility it was initially thought that the price of the bike would be around Rs 5-6 lakh but today’s announcement has meant that many will now have to rework their budgets. Triumph Speed Triple – Auto Expo 2012

The Triumph Speed Triple launched at the Auto Expo 2012 is a wolf in a well, wolf’s clothing. It along with its little brother the Street Triple both sport great street fighter’ looks combined with serious performance. The elder of the two Triples was launched in 1994 and was called the Speed Triple T300.

It was a tribute to 1938 speed twin’ that was dubbed as a performance bike. The original bikes had single steel down tubes and used the engine as a stressed member with fully adjustable suspension front and rear and to showcase its performance’ tag Triumph also started a one-make racing series with the bike in 1994.

In 1997 the Speed Triple received a refresh with a larger engine and notably twin bug eye’ headlamps. The frame changed to external twin-tube’ aluminium frame and single sided swing arm and the clip-on handlebars from the 1994 bike were also replaced with regular handlebars. Triumph Launches 7 Bikes For India – Auto Expo 2012

Triumph has showcased a diverse portfolio of seven bikes from four prominent families (Roadster/ Supersports, Adventure / Touring, Modern Classics and Cruisers). The Bonneville will be the cheapest offering at Rs 5.5 lakh ex-showroom. It will not necessarily be the first Triumph to be launched.

Auto Expo 2012 - Triumph launches seven bikes for the Indian market

The lineup includes the Bonneville, Speed Triple, Street Triple, Tiger 800xc, Storm, Rocket III and Daytona 675. The British manufacturer will be assembling a few models in India. They plan to have 3-4 dealers in the first year and 10-12 in next three years.

The commercial sales in India start during the festive season i.e. the third quarter of 2012.
