2012 Ducati Monster 795 Now at 5.99 Lakhs Only

The 2012 Ducati Monster 795 was launched at a price of INR 6.99 Lakhs, ex-showroom Delhi, days ago at the 2012 Indian Auto Expo. Today, we’ve just gotten wind of the fact that the Monster’s price has been slashed by a mighty 1 lakh rupees.

Now the 2012 Ducati Monster 795 will now be priced at INR 5.99 lakh rupees, which is a killer deal for what is an iconic motorcycle and one that is extremely capable too. That said, the price being an introductory one might be bumped up after some time.

The Ducati Monster 795 is assembled at Ducati’s Thailand assembly plant through completely knocked down kits shipped in from Bologna,Italy. Apart from critical cycle parts, many parts have also been sourced from Thailand to bring the overall price of the Ducati Monster down, so that the Italian brand can compete with other rival brands, most of whom offer their motorcycles at lower prices than Ducati.

Speaking about the price revision, Ducati India CEO Ashish Chordia said, It was our endeavour to price this model attractively and we have succeeded in passing on the benefits of the Thailand FTA to our customers. In just two days since its launch, the Ducati Monster 795 has received an overwhelming response and with this new price the demand is expected to grow exponentially.

The Ducati Monster 795 features the more conventional twin side swing arm layout instead of the signature single side swing arm the full price model comes with. This, and many such moves like these have helped Ducati make the monster 795 much more affordable and accessible to a wider motorcycle enthusiast populace. The good thing however is the fact that the Ducati Monster 795 will still feature the 803cc air cooled L-Twin engine generating 86 Bhp of peak power and 78 Nm of peak torque.

New Ducati Monster 795 Launched at Expo

The wait is finally over. The Ducati Monster 795 can be yours for Rs 6.99 lakh, ex-showroom. The Monster 795 was today officially launched at the 2012 Auto Expo by Mirko Bordiga, Ducati Asia Pacific CEO and Ashish Chordia Ducati India CEO.

This Ducati which has been specifically developed for the Asian markets now becomes the most affordable Ducati in the Indian market.

It has an 803cc L-twin, air cooled engine which produces 87PS of power and 78Nm of torque at 6250rpm. It has a six speed gear box. To bring the cost down, the 795 has a double-sided swing arm instead of the single on the 796. It will also have 3-spoke alloy wheels and not the five-spoke ones on the 796.

Considering that the 795 will be made at Ducati’s Thailand facility it was initially thought that the price of the bike would be around Rs 5-6 lakh but today’s announcement has meant that many will now have to rework their budgets. With the Triumph Street Triple now available at Rs 5.75 lakh, the Kawasaki Ninja 650R at Rs 4.57 lakh and the Hyosung GT650N at Rs 4.6 lakh (all prices ex-showroom) Ducati will have to bank on their premiumness to draw in the customer.

Another Ducati Monster?

It’s hard to imagine how Ducati could cram another Monster into its air-cooled street-naked line-up, let alone update the fairly fresh models already in the brand’s arsenal, yet monster.ducati.com is teasing some sort of unveiling, due out in two weeks’ time.

Anothe Ducati Monster Coming October 20

There is not a terrible amount of information that we can glean from the tight-stretched cover over the photo Ducati is using (the exhaust can appears to be high-mounted like the 696/796, unlike the 1100 EVO), and the timing and the location for the unveil are interesting to say the least.

We have to admit we’re caught a bit off-guard about this one, and will have to reach out to our spies to see what info we can get on this revelation. Until we hear back, our best guess would be a region-specific version of the Monster that is more well-suited for riding in Southeast Asia, presumably in the 200cc-400cc engine capacity range. But again, that’s purely a guess, and it could be something as innocuous as Monster Art/Replica unveil, or better yet an EVO update for the two smaller Monsters.

We’d expect those at EICMA though, so well…stay tuned.
